Arizona Hiking Shack Located on Cave Creek Road in Phoenix, this place sells and rents equipment for hiking, climbing, and whitewater excursions.
Phoenix Rock Gym This is where Arizona Adventurers has been holding its indoor rock climbing events.
REI The reknowned outdoor equipment co-op. Two locations in Arizona: One in Tempe and the other in Paradise Valley.
Sedona Bike & Bean A really neat place to rent trail bikes for exploring around Sedona. The store has useful maps and planning resources. Nice people and good food, too.
Corn Field Mazes "Autumn" in Arizona brings a chance for friends to find their way through a "maize" cut into a corn field.

Rivers, Lakes and Marinas in Arizona

Lake Pleasant Located around 30 minutes north of Phoenix, Lake Pleasant is yet another of the dammed lakes in the mountains around the city. Some picnic ramadas available for a fee. Lots of boating activity, but no boat rentals that I'm aware of.

Here's a place you can rent a variety of water craft. Located east of the Phoenix metro area. You can also tour the lake on the . Where people go to "tube the Salt River". They rent tubes and provide transportation between the parking area and the pick-up/drop-off sites. You can bring your own vessel and handle your own transportation (they don't have a monopoly on access to the Salt River), but this is the way most people do it. Skiing in Arizona

Arizona skiing doesn't compare to the rest of the West, not even New Mexico, but it is better than much of the skiing on the east coast, and it blows away the Midwest.

There is skiing in the vicinity of Flagstaff, Show Low (east central), and Tucson. Snowbowl in Flagstaff is closest (a day ski trip from Phoenix is feasible), but Sunrise near Show Low has the best skiing.
